I don’t mean the kind where your tongue hangs out. I mean when your belly hangs out!
The weekend is here and you are going to get those temptations again. Go ahead. Eat out. Enjoy your meals. Just don’t eat it all at one sitting. The reality is that food portions in the US have increased over the past 20 years. It’s helped to contribute to the obesity epidemic. Or it’s an excuse for it. But either way, restaurant portions are often much more than you should eat at one sitting. So here’s a trick. Order what you want. But have them splt it in the kitchen before it’s sent out to you. Have them go ahead and put half in a to-go box. You’ll have a filling meal and then have another one with your favorites later in the week. Just take it home and pop it in the freezer. That way you won’t waste anything and you won’t WAIST anything either.
TODAY: HAVE HALF OF ANY RESTAURANT MEAL PREPARED TO GO.
The weekend is here . You can reward yourself for dieting all week but use some common sense. You simply cant’ stick to a restrictive diet forever. So enjoy some special foods. Do not waste calories on the same burgers, fries, pizza, and chips. Have the really good stuff. You aren’t goingt to limit what you eat, just how much. Stick to high protein and high fiber when you can. But enjoy what you eat this weekend and Monday you won’t feel like your diet has the deck stacked against you.
TODAY: GET SOME EXTRA ACTIVITY TO BURN YOUR EXTRA CALORIES.
You need time to fill up when you eat your meals, so eat with friends and start talking. If you’re talking you can’t be eating. Unless you have no manners and talk with your mouth full. That 20 minutes you need to feel full will come around and you will have eaten less. So carry on a good conversation to carry around less weight.
TODAY: SLOW DOWN YOUR MEALS.
Subway seems to have finally moved on from having Jerrod star in all their spots, but we all know the story. He was way overweight, ate Subway subs and lost weight. I’m not sure of his sanity though. I mean I like Subway, but I like variety better. But you can add a sub to your meal plan and really reduce your calories while enjoying a filling meal. Stay with mustard instead of oil or mayo and ask them to stuff it with the veggies. Get all of the veggies. With the six inch ham sandwich (on a whole wheat roll please) you can even add their oatmeal cookie for dessert and stay at 423 calories. Or have a whopping foot-long turkey for 666 calories and walk for 15 minutes to take it back down to about 500.
Are you seeing how this is working? Who knows, you may star in your own commercial someday.
TODAY: HAVE HALF A SUB INSTEAD OF YOUR USUAL FOOT LONG.
It’s that easy. A great desert with very few calories and no carbs. Top it with real whipped cream (no sugar added) and you’ve maintained the low carb diet and given yourself a nearly decadent treat. Diet success is spelled J-E-L-L-O
TODAY: HEAD TO A PARK AND DOUBLE YOUR WALKING DISTANCE.
Losing weight is a state of mind. You have to make some changes to see some changes. (In your weight) Little things can add up. Like mayonnaise. Some people cringe at the thought of adding mayo to a sandwich. It will get you kicked out of some delis. But if you use it, cut it out or cut back. A serving on a sandwich can be 50 to 100 calories. Mustard, on the other hand is only 11. I know, they’re not the same, but with some adaptation, you won’t miss the mayo.
Then take it a step further and look at what other small things you can do to reduce calories. Then some small exercises too. Remember… “eat less, exercise more.”
TODAY: MAKE SOME SMALL CHANGES.
My brother has liked Root Beer since the days when the soda fountain at Kresge’s 5 & 10 had that big barrel dispenser sitting on the back counter. For some reason It’s not a thirst quencher. But it sure can quench cravings. Diet Root Beer is one of my favorite sweet treats with no calories. The extra sweetness seems to satisfy more than any other drink. Though Diet Dr. Pepper and cream soda also offer some variety.
TODAY: TAKE A NICE LONG WALK AT A PARK.
